Vomiting in dogs

A symptom to record, with many possible causes.

Vomiting can be linked to digestive problems or conditions elsewhere in the body. It differs from passive regurgitation. Tell the veterinarian when episodes began, how often they happen, and about possible unusual food or other exposures.

Repeated vomiting can lead to dehydration. Treatment depends on the underlying cause.

Common signs

Vomiting, nausea, reduced appetite

When to contact a vet

Seek prompt veterinary advice for repeated vomiting, blood, weakness, abdominal pain, or suspected poisoning. Do not give human medicines without veterinary direction.
