A room-by-room pet safety check

Reduce access to objects and substances that can cause harm.

Store medicines, cleaners, batteries, and small swallowable objects securely. Check loose cords, strings, accessible rubbish, and window or balcony barriers.

Check that plants and foods kept within reach are safe for your pet’s species. Keep a veterinarian’s emergency contact available, and note the product name or packaging if an exposure occurs.

When to contact a vet

Suspected poisoning, swallowing a dangerous object, or a fall needs prompt veterinary contact; do not wait for symptoms.
