Fresh water and useful daily observations
Make water accessible and notice changes in drinking and urination.
Provide clean drinking water in places your pet can reach comfortably, and wash bowls regularly. Water needs vary with food, activity, weather, and health; wet food also contributes water.
Watch your pet’s usual drinking and toileting patterns. Record a marked change for the veterinarian instead of forcing a fixed daily volume or assuming more water will treat a urinary problem.

When to contact a vet
Straining with little or no urine needs emergency care. A persistent change in thirst or urination needs assessment.
