Build a gentle toothbrushing routine

Start slowly and notice changes in the mouth.

Use a pet toothbrush and pet toothpaste. Introduce handling and brushing in short, rewarding steps, stopping if your pet shows pain or distress. Aim for a consistent routine your veterinarian recommends.

Notice changes in breath, gums, chewing, and appetite. Dental chews and home brushing do not replace an examination or treatment for a painful mouth.
