Malassezia skin problems

Yeast overgrowth can accompany an underlying skin problem.

Malassezia yeast can overgrow and contribute to itchy skin or ear disease. Allergies and other conditions may make recurrence more likely. Odor or appearance alone cannot confirm the cause.

A veterinarian may examine skin or ear samples under a microscope and investigate contributing problems. Record affected areas and changes; treatment depends on the findings.
